Join staff from DNREC’s Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve (DNERR) for a free guided boat trip on the St. Jones River, near Dover.
Summer is a great time to get outside and on the water. Enjoy a scenic ride down the historic St. Jones River with staff from DNREC’s Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve (DNERR).
Historically, the St. Jones River was a major mode of transportation into the city of Dover. While the river has changed over the years, both naturally and by the actions of humans, it remains an important feature of the area.
Experience Delaware differently from a 24-foot skiff. See the plants and animals of the river as well as scientific management in practice.
The boat trip is free and appropriate for ages 8 and up. Those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It will last approximately two hours.
Please note that the steps onto the boat are steep and can be challenging. Life jackets are provided and are required to be worn on the trip. Space is limited; pre-registration is required.
Boat trips are tide-dependent and will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
